Pinewood Derby UPDATE

Written by Pack155 on February 5, 2010

Hello All! The Derby is just around the corner on February 13. We will be setting up Friday the 12th at 6:00pm at the Holum Center in DeForest. If anyone is available to help, it would be appreciated. Brian Hackl is heading up the Food Committee and needs a few more volunteers to staff the concessions on Saturday. Please contact him by email or phone (837-6646) if you can help out. Here are assignments for food to bring:

Den 3 = Treats (bite size candy bars or baked goods)
Den 4 = Treats (bite size candy bars or baked goods)
Den 5 = Hot Dog buns (2 dozen each)
Shark Patrol = Fruit, Bananas, Grapes, Apples
Lightning Patrol = Breakfast snacks, bars
Panther Patrol = Breakfast snacks, bars

Registration will start at 8:00 am and end at 9:00 am. Any cars not registered by 9:00 will be able to race but will not place or advance to the Pack Championship. We will have the Pits open during registration so you can make changes if needed.

An important note from Derby Race Coordinator, Glenn Tomkins: There will be no advance weighing of cars on Thursday night this year due to the Scout House being renovated. Please use the local post office scale to weigh your cars and get them close. There will be some tools at the Derby to adjust weight of the cars at the time of weigh in. Your Scout’s car must be no more that 5 oz as weighed on our scales. No other scales or weights from other scales are considered. Please remember that the cars should be made by the Scout with guidance and assistance by the parents. The open class is available for adults to participate in the Derby. See official rules and other Derby notes.

We will be taking care of Health Forms at the Derby this year. The BSA has NEW forms this year and EVERYONE has to fill out new ones. These Forms are available on our Forms Page. If you attend any Scouting Event you need a form.

If anyone has not turned in your Friends of Scouting forms to Jay, please bring them on Saturday. Even if you are not making a pledge, please return them.

Hope to see all of you next Saturday at the Derby!
