Popcorn 2009 Info!

Time to sell popcorn and earn cool prizes!! Read on to learn what you need to know for popcorn sales this year.

The date for pickup is Friday, September 25, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Sales will again be “show & deliver”, meaning you’ll have the popcorn with you when you are selling and can deliver it right when you sell it. To do this, you’ll need to pickup popcorn in advance. Popcorn pickup is at the house of our Popcorn Kernel, Dawn Maier (see end of this post for directions or click for map).

We ask that you take a full case of each type of popcorn you wish to sell. It is important that each scout keeps track of their popcorn and does not “trade” any boxes with other scouts. What you take will be tracked and you’ll need to sell or return all of the popcorn. For instance, if you take 3 cases of carmel corn and sell one but only return one, you will be responsible for the cost of the missing 3rd case. So, please keep track of your popcorn. If you do need to exchange some popcorn, you must do that with Dawn.

IMPORTANT!!!! Do NOT cut open the Trails Mix boxes with any sharp tool. This year the Trails Mix does not come in a tin but instead comes in a resealable bag, so we need to be careful not to cut those bags when opening the cases.

B R E A K I N G N E W S !! Scouts who fill a full sheet on his popcorn order form will get a “Marshmallow Blaster”!! (limit one per scout)

ONLINE SALES

Each Scout has been given a username, password and ID# to use for online sales.* This will allow us to track online orders made on behalf of a Scout. The customer must reference the Scout’s ID# when ordering online for the Scout to receive proper credit. Remember, online sales are a great way to conveniently sell to out of town customers, but it is not a way for you to turn in door-to-door sales. Please keep track of your door-to-door orders on your order forms and turn those in to Dawn. Any online sales data will be added to the Scout’s order totals.

* ONLINE SALES UPDATE FROM DAWN MAIER: If you are planning on selling online, please do not give out your scout codes yet. Apparently there was a glitch in the system and none of the codes I gave out are correct. As soon as I find out how to fix this, I will let you know how to set up your online accounts. I don’t know if your usernames or passwords are correct either, so for now, please do not log into the system.

WEEKLY DRAWINGS

There will be 4 weekly drawings for Wii Systems and Guitar Hero! To qualify for a drawing, Scouts must fill up a full order form and turn in a copy of the form (NOT the original) to Dawn Maier by the Thursday evening of that week. Dawn will take those forms to the Scout Office on Friday morning to be entered into the drawing. You may email a PDF of the form to Dawn if that is easier. Emailed forms are due by 8:00 am Friday.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Please remember we do not have nearly as much popcorn as last year for everyone to start with. Dawn will be able to give each Scout one Unbelievable Butter and one Cheese Lovers Tin. The rest of the popcorn is going to be first come, first served. Please be reasonable with what you take so all Scouts have a good base of popcorn to start with. Remember, Dawn will be checking with everyone after about a week to see if you need more popcorn. If needed, we can place another order and have another pickup date.

If you were unable to attend the Kickoff Pack Meeting on September 20, either Dawn or your den leaders have your sales sheets and other information. Check with Dawn when you pickup your popcorn and she will check if she has your information. Additional sales forms will be available at the pickup if you need them.

Customers should either pay with cash, or write checks to you, the parent. Then, after the popcorn sale is over and you are ready to turn in all of your sales, make a single check out payable to “Pack 155”. You can post-date the check to December 4, 2009, since checks will not be cashed by the Pack until this date.

Only full cases can be returned to Trails End. Please do not throw away your empty boxes. Please return any empty boxes with any unsold popcorn you return on Oct. 21.

REMEMBER: Any popcorn containing chocolate cannot be returned. Please pickup only what you know you will sell with chocolate products.

Please be sure to fill out the order form with the customers information, it’s the only way we can accurately determine your prize level. Also check the “DLV” box on the form if you deliver popcorn to a customer. If you do not check the DLV box, we will assume you still need to deliver popcorn and we will expect you to pickup the needed product in November.

If you come across someone who would like to just donate to scouting without buying popcorn, please put that money in a separate envelope from your popcorn money. This money will not count toward your popcorn totals and prizes, but their donation definitely welcome at any time!

Check back later for more information about possible Gander Mountain sales dates. That is in the process of being organized.

When picking up popcorn, please park on the road and check in with Dawn. You may pull into the driveway to load popcorn after checking in. Please respect our neighbors and do not park on their lawns, especially with all the recent rain.

Remember to keep your order form as neat as possible, it will really help Dawn a great deal!

To get to Dawn’s house, 6262 Fox Run, DeForest:

• From Hwy 51, exit on Hwy 19 heading east toward Sun Prairie
• Follow Hwy 19 into Token Creek
• Go past stop lights at Portage Rd staying on Hwy 19
• Take FIRST RIGHT after stop lights onto Fox Run
• 6262 Fox Run is a tan ranch on your left
