The Deputy and Some Knots
Written by Pack155 on March 10, 2015

Dane County Deputy Sheriff Heidi Studnicka paid a visit to the Den 3 den meeting this week to talk about life as a deputy. Deputy Studnicka shared her experiences working around the Windsor area as well as showing the boys some of her tools of the trade. On her duty belt were things like her handcuffs, keys, baton, firearm, and — of course, the boys’ favorite — her taser. Despite some willing young volunteers, Deputy Studnicka did not taser anyone.
The highlight of her visit was when she showed the boys what it was like to collect evidence from a crime scene and the steps involved in securing tamper-proof evidence… that is, that was the highlight up until she took the boys outside to the squad car! (see movie at bottom)
Thank you for an excellent presentation (in spite of some challenging questions!), Deputy Studnicka!
After the presentation from the deputy, the boys learned to tie some knots, led by this month’s denner, Peter Schnell and his dad. Definitely an eventful meeting for the Bears…
