Great Showing at District

The Pack 155 scouts who participated at the Yahara District Pinewood Derby last Saturday fared really well. The event was held at East Madison Toyota near the Eastgate Theaters.
Between 25 and 30 scouts from throughout the Yahara District raced at each rank. Headlining the Pack 155 scouts was Den 7’s Sawyer Lawton who finished 3rd in the Bear races, earning a sweet 3rd Place trophy! Pack 155 Tigers were represented by Den 4’s Jake Wornson who finished 9th. The Pack was represented by Den 3’s Devin Chatman in the Wolf races. Devin finished 6th out of 25 Wolves. SR71 Blackbird Patrol’s Calvin Geerdts raced in the Webelos I races and brought home an 11th place finish out of 30 Webelos cars.
Scouts could also check out the huge collection of past Derby cars on display (right), featuring some old, some new and some crazy and cool! The District track is a different track than what the Pack uses, having six lanes (rather than 3), it’s longer overall, and has a much longer flat portion of track on the floor (as you can see above). This combination of differences means you may or may not expect your car to do as well as it did in the Pack races — so it’s always worthwhile to give it a try if you qualified as one of your den’s top 3!
