Family Campout at Wornson’s Farm

Written by Pack155 on June 5, 2013

With the school year winding down, it means the scout summer activities are winding up. We’ll kick off the Summer Activities with our annual Pack 155 Family Campout. The campout is always a great time, and Scouts will enjoy a special campfire “graduation” ceremony as they move on to their next rank for the Scout Year next fall.

This year’s campout is at the Wornson Farm which is north between Hwy 51 and Hwy C, just off Hwy 22 on Hall Rd. See maps and route below…

A big, BIG “thank you” to the Wornson Family for hosting this event and allowing us to camp on their property.

Details for the Pack 155 Family Campout:

| RESPONSIBILITIES |

— Tables and Chairs
Usually we have several picnic tables available, but we will not this year. Each family attending should plan to bring some type of table and chairs. Joe Wornson has some, but we should “be prepared” and bring more.

— Saturday Night Dinner
Each Den will be responsible for their own dinner and drinks. Also, please bring your own grill or coordinate with others in your Den to make sure you have a grill to use for your cookout. Please fire up your grills by 4:30 so we’re eating by 5:00.

— First-Year Webelos (DEN 1)
The new Webelos I patrol (formerly Den 1) will be responsible for many things, including: water/cups for entire camp, the Saturday night campfire (wood, lighting, shovel, bucket of water), coordinating the campfire program (den songs, den skits, etc.), after-campfire treat, and the Sunday morning breakfast (food, plates, cups utensils, napkins, paper towel, tubs to rinse/wash cleanup).

Click below to zoom the route map, closeup map, or satellite view. Or CLICK HERE to go directly to a dynamic route in Google Maps.

DIRECTIONS: Take Hwy 51 north toward Pardeeville. About 2 miles past the Hwy 51/22 junction (having stayed on Hwy 22) take Hall Rd and turn right (east). Go about 3.5 miles and the Wornson Farm is the last place on the left (north) before you get to Hwy C — W5140 Hall Rd, Poynette.

NOTE ABOUT HIKING: If you would like to take a nature hike, below is a list of things you and your scout may like to bring. Remember, if your scout is not a Bear, Webelo I and II’s we would ask that a parent go on the hike with your scout.

  • Small flashlight
  • Matches
  • Whistle, if possible
  • Compass
  • If your scout does not have these items don’t worry about it — although, Bears, Webelos I and II scouts should already have these items.
