Scouting for Food Notes

Written by Pack155 on March 16, 2012

Here are some notes from Scouting for Food coordinator Bryan Hill regarding the annual food drive:

Saturday, April 21, 2012 — 9:00 am Dens/Patrols meet at their designated spots to distribute door hangers in the neighborhoods they have been assigned. Each Den/Patrol Leader will need to fill out the Day 1 Volunteer Summary Form listing names of Scouts and parents who volunteered and how much time was spent.

Saturday, April 28, 2012 — 9:00 am Dens/Patrols meet again at their designated spot to begin collecting donated food in the same neighborhood they distributed the fliers. Once the collection is complete, food items need to be counted. Den/Patrol Leaders are responsible for filling out the Day 2 Volunteer Summary Form with the names of Scouts and parents who volunteered, how much time was spent, and the total number of items collected. Please then bring the items directly to the Windsor Food Pantry located at Windsor United Church of Christ (4434 2nd St., Windsor, WI). Please use the entrance located on the east side of the church.

Please note: Many of our Troop 155 Boy Scouts will be gone on pickup day (4/28) attending the Backpack Camporee and will not be available for the food pick up day. We are asking all Den/Patrol leaders to take my cell # with them, Bryan & Amy Hill cell: 608-669-8742. When you have completed pickup at your assigned area, please call me to see if Troop 155 is in need of additional help. At the moment, we are not sure how many Boy Scouts will be available to help with pickup.

Once both Volunteer Summary Forms (from day 1 & 2) have been completed, the forms and maps need to be returned to me. Den/Patrol leaders can drop forms/maps off at a Troop meeting (Tuesdays 7:00 pm, Windsor Neighborhood Center), or at my house.

Next year Pack 155 will need a new Scouting for Food coordinator… anyone interested in volunteering can contact me directly (email Bryan Hill).
