What You Need to Know: Sep-Oct2011

Written by Pack155 on September 20, 2011

At the Kickoff Pack Meeting we braved the misty, sprinkly, chilly weather at Windsor Fireman’s Park. The Pack welcomed its newest Scouts with a fresh batch of eager Tiger Cubs (pictured).

And, while the boys played a spirited game of kickball, parents and leaders heard from our new Popcorn Kernel, Dan Jansen. Thanks, Dan, the parents and scouts really appreciate your help with such a critical role.

Here’s some notes to get the scout year started:

2011 Popcorn Sale

Popcorn Kernel Dan Jansen provided some insight into how the popcorn sale will work this year. If you did not attend the meeting to pickup your popcorn packet, please contact your den leader. You can also reference this PDF to learn the basics about this year’s sale (click to view, right-click to download). POPCORN PICKUP IS ON FRIDAY, SEPT 23, from 5-8pm.

This year’s sale will also feature an added incentive for Scouts. Through the Glacier’s Edge Council (not through Pack 155) there will be a weekly drawing for an iPad. Scouts who sell $400 will be eligible for the weekly drawing, beginning on Sept. 30. If your scout has sold $400 by Friday 9/30, fax your order form showing $400 in sales to Glacier’s Edge Council (fax 608-273-8686) by 5:00 pm. EVERY $400 OF SALES IS ANOTHER ENTRY INTO THE WEEKLY DRAWINGS. If you fax over 3 forms over several weeks, all 3 forms are entered — not just the current week’s entry. So sell early, and sell often to maximize your iPad chances! The due dates for the weekly drawings are (all Fridays): Sept 30, Oct 7, Oct 14, Oct 21.

Of course, the usual prizes for scouts are detailed in the “Rock Your Sales” handout that came with your popcorn packet, and we’ll have the Pack 155 Leaders Dunk Tank incentive for scouts selling more than $600.

The sale ends on Saturday, Oct 22, and remaining popcorn must be returned on Sunday, Oct 23 (1-5pm), along with a single check for all the popcorn you sold (payable to “Pack 155”).

COSTUMES!

Remember to wear Halloween costumes (scouts AND adults — especially leaders) for our next Pack Meeting on October 17, 2011, at the Windsor Elementary cafeteria beginning at 6:15pm. “Across the Universe” is the meeting theme. Scorpion Patrol will be responsible for setup, opening, clean-up and treats. Den 5 will do a skit, with the Pack Totem going to the newly-minted Cobra Patrol. Den 6 will handle the closing.

Pack Meetings will be added to the Pack Events Calendar in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can download this jpeg of the Pack Meeting Schedule for 2011.
